This part of Northern Spain’s Coast is breathtaking and accessible. My workshops include photographing stunning vistas from above rugged cliffs and up close next to impressive sea stacks. While this part of the coast may experience less solitude, it is no less dramatic!
Northern Spain Photo Workshops
There are many great and unique compositions to be photographed in the Liencres Costa Quebrada. The opportunities are dominated by overlooks, but we will also find unique compositions at sea level, with the possibility of shallow pool hopping. The hiking trail here is a little uneven with some ups and downs, but is generally recognized as mostly easy. This is one of my favorite places for photography because there are multiple amazing photo compositions available to the East, West and North.

The landscape in this area of Ribadesella can be described as outer worldly, sometimes feeling like you are on another planet. This is a great trail for overlooks, and features some uneven parts and opportunity to do some light rock hopping. The scenery here is constantly changing with different light. Each composition can be photographed in different ways to show beautiful and unique perspectives. The trail is uneven in places, but generally considered mostly easy, with many great views.

The Llanes area workshop features two unique and different locations which are both highly photogenic, especially during sunrise or sunset. The beach arch is best photographed at low tide so one can move closer; however a higher tide, especially in summer can be very dramatic. The overlook here can be photographed from different viewpoints, and this is another location that can be affected dramatically in different light situations. The beach arch is best shot during sunrise as it will not be crowded, while it’s okay to photograph the overlook arch during either sunrise or sunset. It’s an easy walk to the beach arch, and a lovely 1km walk to the overlook arch, with some optional stairs or mild rock hopping.

This is two separate workshops that can be combined if shooting one location at sunset and one at sunrise. I recommend only two hours is needed for the beautiful Santander lighthouse set on rugged cliffs. You can choose to go longer if you want to continue shooting in great lighting conditions. The sea-level shot is best photographed at sunrise when light is optimal and there are hardly any other people around. This can also be a two or four hour workshop. At the sea-level view, wearing footwear that can get wet will allow for even more dramatic compositions.

Let me share my passion with you during an adventure and learning experience to photograph some of Northern Spain’s most beautiful Coast views. There will be some walking or hiking, possibly on uneven trails and very shallow pools. This will be determined before the workshop, to fit the needs of each participants ultimate comfort level. Choose from workshops for 4-hour one location sunrise or sunset to multiple locations full-day full workshops. All levels of photography skills welcome!
